When I look into her eyes, I notice a high level of determination, but also reluctance and coldness. This form of energy can sometimes be vital to free us from injustice and oppression. But we must also ask ourselves how this energy works within us, what it makes of us. As vital as it is, we should not carry it inside us any longer than is necessary. Dear Carolyn, these are my subjective humble thoughts and feelings while looking at this picture. Hoping not to be off base, I admire your great art!

I am always glad to hear your take on my paintings. I so agree. She does have determination but perhaps on a rather stoic, cold front. Someday she might thaw out but until then everything in her life is a competition of sorts. The lack of warmth in her heart and on her face is only a defense against being hurt. She lives in a world without feeling. I find that sad but at the same time I understand her. She seeks power as her comfort. Thank you again for always supporting my artwork. I paint many layers of the human condition. It is how I communicate what I see and feel in others. I had a mother who was very much this way. I know that look!

Oh Laurie thank you so much for your support and compliment. I wanted to paint her powerful and yet she has a somewhat cold heart. Powerful like the train behind her. Thank you again for the wonderful compliment.

Thank you Nina for the compliment and the L;F. I was hoping my intention of the word powerful came through in her face. Plus the train behind her.

Thank you Yvonne. When I painted this piece I was definitely thinking about the 1920's. I like the train with power and the woman's determined and feisty face. Thank you again.
